Heart in the Game will take place in the Springer Gymnasium. The mission of this program is to create awareness of Sudden Cardiac Arrest in children and young adults through the formation of community access programs in 1) ECG screening 2) AED training and 3) CPR training
Our goal is to screen every middle and upper school student in Delaware.... for FREE!
Each child should have one screening in middle school and one screening in high school. During the screening we will train in both AED and CPR.
Thank you to ShopRite/Kenny Foundation for arranging Mr. Phanatic! Also, there will be an ad in the News Journal on Sept 23 regarding the event. The ad was sponsored by ShopRite/Kenny as well. For friends who wish to register their students visit. http://www.heartinthegame.org/register.html
SUMMER READING REBOOT
Attention, middle and high school students (and parents)! The Summer Reading Program for BSD is undergoing a shift. Instead of us telling you what books to read, we are encouraging you to pick books, articles, and websites that interest you. As a guideline, try to read for at least 30 minutes for 45 days during the summer. In addition to the above recommendation, students enrolled in BSD’s Gifted, Honors, IB, and AP programs may receive specific reading lists from their teachers.
Make sure you check www.brandywineschools.org for details. While you’re there, check out our new Summer Reading Blog! You can make recommendations and get ideas for your next book.
NOW IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR SPORTS PHYSICALS FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR
All students trying out and participating in any Springer sports must have a completed DIAA physical form on file with the nurse.
DIAA PHYSICAL FORM INFO:
The NEW UPDATED DIAA Physical form and consents form is a five page document. Pages one, two and four require your signature before an exam can be conducted. Page five is a reference for you to keep. This physical evaluation must be completed after April 1 of the current year playing sports and runs through June 30 of the following year. Please click the links below for documents. Students will not be permitted to try out or participate in any athletics without a physical on file with the nurse.
