
Math League is a competition for 7th and 8thgrade students. Teams of 5 students answer 7 individual questions. The team’s score is the combined number of correct questions for each team member. Each meet involves the five different schools in our region. (PS duPont, Springer, Talley, SMM, and St. Edmonds) After 4 meets, the top two scoring teams per grade level are invited to the state invitational.

Announcementsfor 2/14/12
Last week,the P.S. duPont Math League teams finished their season of competition. After 4 meets, the 7th grade teamsfinished 1st (“C” Team), 2nd (“A” Team), and 3rd (“B”Team) in Region 1 competition. The 7th grade teams competedagainst two St. Mary Magdalen teams, two Springer teams, one St. Edmond’sAcademy team, and two Thomas Edison Chapter school teams. Top scorers for Region 1 are all from P.S.and they are #1 - Sai Mamidala (6thgrade) with 27 out of 28 points, #2 - Stefan Haroldsson with 24 out of 28points, and a tie for #3 – Natasha Gengler, Connor Wagaman, and Emily Zhengwith 21 out of 28 points.
The 8thgrade teams also finished 1st (“A” Team), 2nd (“B” Team),and 3rd (“C” Team) in Region 1 competition. The top scorers for Region 1 are also P.S.duPonters and they are #1 – Dhruv Mohnot (21 out of 28 points), #2 – Matt Kalin(20 out of 28 points), and #3 – Brennan Stark (19 out of 28 points). Their competition included one St. Edmond’sAcademy team, two St. Mary Magdalen teams, two Thomas Edison Charter schoolteams, and three Springer teams.
What’s Next?
P.S. issending two teams of 7th graders and two teams of 8thgrades to the State Math League Invitational meets that will be held in April. There will also be a building MATHCOUNTScompetition on March 4th to determine which PS students will earnthe right to represent the school at the state competition. More information about sign-ups will becoming soon.
