Mr. M. Downing
The Visual Art classes at Hanby develop aesthetic quality and order that are derived from the exercise of an individual’s creativity and critical understanding.Differentiated instruction is given at all levels to maximize depth of knowledge and abilities of the individual. Lessons are developed to be interdisciplinary as well and students will be able to describe and/or demonstrate how skills transfer between the visual arts and other disciplines. Students are encouraged to be creative by making historical and cultural connections based on time, place and culture. The curriculum is standards based and focus is placed on the Elements and Principles of Art. All students are given the opportunity to achieve and express themselves in a productive manner that promotes pride and instills self-worth.
