Meet the Brandywine School Board Children and education reflect a majority of Olivia's passions. For the past 20 years, Olivia has been employed at a local preschool and childcare facility where she is a preschool teacher and an assistant to the Director. Olivia has also been active in the Brandywine School District as a PTA President at Lancashire Elementary School and Concord High School, a chair person for other school committees and events, as well as mentoring school aged children. Among her various awards and accomplishments, Olivia most values her family life with her husband, Greg, and raising their two children, both graduates of Concord High School. Olivia is currently completing her second degree, which will be in Early Childhood Education. Represents Voting District E. Term expires: June 2015. Contact Olivia Johnson-Harris COMMITTEES: BSNPTA Policy Review Legislative  Ralph Ackerman, Vice PresidentRalph Ackerman has been a Delaware resident since 1976, and has lived primarily in Claymont. Ralph has four daughters, all of whom are graduates of the District. Ralph served previously on the Brandywine Board of Education, from 1993 to 2003. While on the board, he served as Vice President one year and President for 5 years. He served as spokesperson for Coalition for Better Education In Brandywine, was a member of the Strategic Planning committee in 1992, was a Citizens Advisory Committee representative for Maple Lane Elementary, and recently chaired the Claymont Community Coalition education committee. Ralph received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Delaware and completed the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation from the American Institute in 1991. He works for Chase as an Analyst. He is active in the Brandywine Valley Chapter of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters, serving as the President and Education Chairperson.  Joseph BrumskillContact Joseph Brumskill COMMITTEES: Finance Communications & Marketing Legislative  Cheryl SiskinCheryl Siskin has extensive experience working with community groups and public agencies. The mother of three children in our schools, she holds a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from George Washington University, as well as a J.D. from Temple University. Cheryl is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and worked as a planner in Fairfax County, Virginia, prior to attending law school. COMMITTEES: Board Liaison to PTA Council DSBA Legislative Renovations Oversight BSNPTA  John Skrobot Mr. Skrobot is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and a retired pipefitter and adult night school instructor for the New Castle County Vo-Tech School District. His grown children attended BSD schools, and he and his wife, Joyce, now have a grandchild in the District. He has volunteered in the District in various capacities since 1979 and has served as Co-Chair of the District's Renovations Oversight Committee since 2002. Mr. Skrobot also served as Co-Chair of the District's Capital Referendum in 2005. Represents Voting District F. Term expires: June 2016. Contact John Skrobot: COMMITTEES: Renovations Oversight  Michael FalstadMichael Falstad has been a Delaware resident since childhood and attended school in the Brandywine School District from first grade through High School graduation. His two daughters are currently enrolled in elementary and middle schools within the District. Michael holds degrees from University of Delaware and Drexel University and is an architect and LEED accredited professional at the firm of Frens and Frens, LLC, Restoration Architects in West Chester, Pennsylvania. With a background in creative problem solving, energy‐efficiency, and building consensus among differing interests, he hopes to help guide decisions that make the best use of our resources, strengthen what is already great within our district, identify and improve areas that require attention, and save money by spending wisely. Represents Voting District D. Term expires: June 2017. Contact Michael Falstad:  Cara StanardCara Stanard was appointed to the Board in September 2012 and represents Voting District B. She is a proud graduate of the Brandywine School District and current parent of a sixth grader and preschooler who will enter kindergarten in BSD next year. Ms. Stanard has worked in education since 1997 and is currently an academic counselor at Delaware Technical and Community College. She earned her Master of Education in School Counseling from Wilmington University in 2006 and graduated from DelTech's Leadership Development Program in 2010. She also has been an active member of the PTAs at Carrcroft Elementary, Mount Pleasant Elementary, and Claymont Elementary. Represents Voting District B. Term expires: June 2015.
